Hi there!

MANY of you are stirring collagen peptides into your coffee every morning, myself included. I do this (and suggest it) for a couple of reasons:

1- it’s a good source of protein first thing in the morning – protein is the way I believe we should all be starting our days to best support cognitive function, hormones and blood sugar.

2- most need to wake up and immediately eat to best support cortisol. But, most don’t like to wake up and eat – but instead, coffee usually happens first. Adding collagen peptides to your coffee is a helpful source of nutrition first thing in the morning that signals to cortisol that it can calm down (reminder: cortisol is highest in the mornings when we wake up – consuming nutrition is one of the best ways to help cortisol lower and essentially remind the body that it is safe – this stabilizes blood sugar and can be helpful for regulatng your nervous system – aka you manage stress more easily/efficiently.)

3- adding it to coffee is an easy, unnoticeable way (aka once stirred in, you’ll never know it’s there) to get this nutrition in for gut and skin health.

Which, leads me to today’s article.

A recent meta analysis of 14 trials assessed collagen supplementation and its affect on skin rejuvenation (aging, hydration, elasticity, firmness, and wrinkles).

Most of the trials used less than 10 grams of collagen peptides daily (FYI: for those adding to your coffee – depending on the brand you’re using – this is anywhere from 1/2 – 1 scoop) for 1-3 months, and some of the trials added additional ingredients with the collagen such as Vitamin C.

The meta analysis found that the trials consistently showed substantial improvements in skin hydration and elasticity due to the collagen peptides stimulating collagen synthesis, concluding that 5 grams of collagen peptides daily is likely effective for skin rejuvenation. So, not only are you supporting gut, brain and hormonal health by getting this in your coffee each morning, you’re also improving the appearance and longevity of your skin! Fun news, right!?

Net, net collagen peptides are a safe and effective supplement to include to promote collagen synthesis and skin health. I personally add at least 10 grams daily into my coffee. However, if you are not a coffee or tea drinker – you can simply mix it into water – you’ll kind of know it’s there – alternatively, you can mix it into yogurt or a smoothie.

It is best to opt for a hydrolyzed collagen peptide supplement.

I really like Bubs Naturals and Further Foods brands.

>>a reminder: I do not get any kickback from you clicking on or purchasing from any links I provide<<

FYI:

Bubs just changed the size of their scoop – one scoop = 20g

>>so 1/2 scoop would suffice though a full scoop certainly won’t hurt you especially if trying to increase your overall protein intake.

Further Foods – one scoop = 8g

>>so would do a heaping 1 scoop of this one

I’m here for questions!

I hope you all have a WONDERFUL week!

Be kind to you ❤️

xoxo
